I encounter the Red-Sided Garter Snake at the river more than elsewhere. This one, however, was on a dirt road near Prewitt Reservoir. It was very docile until I started nudging it with my foot to get it off the warm road so it wouldn’t be run over. We parted amicably with it safely in the ditch.
