Female Shield-Backed Katydid (Tettigoniidae). That long, pointed thing is the ovipositor.

A nymph I don’t know. One entomologist thinks it might be a Showy Grasshopper.
We’ll call it a Yellow Jacket on a Canada Thistle. (I am told this is a Scoliid wasp, a family of 560 species.)
