Ring-Billed Gull, non-breeding. This is probably the most common gull in our area.
I’m not a big fan of gulls because they are so varied and one needs a spotting scope to really look at them. Using my Sibley’s bird book, I misidentified the fellow below. Some real birders corrected me and identified it as a “late immature” Herring Gull. I didn’t need a spotting scope for this one as it was busy feeding on a dead, a small carp here, at Prewitt Reservoir. It is standing on a large, dead carp.
