Because they spend much of their time in mud at water’s edge, Raccoons are a delight if you seek footprints. Someone said the tracks look like baby hands, as they have five digits.
And like us and bears, Raccoons are plantigrades. That means their back feet have heels and they walk heel first. The print to the left is the back foot. The one to the right a front.
Raccoons can become habitual. I occasionally find fallen log toilet sites that are often used.
